Profile
Our Objectives
Importance: Whether in marketing, production, or corporate innovation - the possibilities of AI are manifold. AI helps to automate decisions and processes or recognize complex patterns and relationships. However, the use of AI can also have unexpected negative consequences, which can cause considerable damage not only to the reputation and profitability of organizations, but also to individuals and society as a whole. Prominent examples include deepfakes, the unwanted use of facial recognition, discrimination against applicants in personnel selection, or the lack of traceability and control in AI-based business decisions.
Research Statement: Using a socio-technical research approach, the Chair of Information Systems and AI in Marketing, headed by Prof. Dr. Mario Nadj, is therefore looking at how human-computer interactions can be realized responsibly and how AI systems can be designed and used in a fair, interpretable, and trustworthy way in diverse application contexts.
Implications: We are convinced that the transfer of state-of-the-art knowledge and inspiring teaching as well as a constant dialogue with the public must go on hand in hand in order to reach the utmost impact of our work in organizations and society.
Further information about the research focus can be found here:
AI Interactivity
We are examining impactful ways of AI-user interaction to make AI processes more effective, e.g., by giving users agency beyond contestability and enabling them to adapt and help shape the internal AI mechanisms.
AI Explainability
We investigate different XAI methods to look into the black box of AI decisions and design and evaluate intuitive explanatory representations of the AI decision for comprehensibility.
AI in Human Physiology
Drawing on AI, neuroscience, and neurophysiological findings and tools, we aim to better understand the development, use, and impact of information systems.
